LAVAGNINO 2010
REGULATIONS
art.1
The Classical Orchestra of Alessandria with the support of the
Piedmont Regione and the cooperation of the Conservatory A.
Vivaldi of Alessandria, the Museo Nazionale del Cinema
of Turin and RTI-Mediaset, in memory of A.F. Lavagnino, has set
up the 7th Composition Contest LAVAGNINO 2010.
art. 2
he contest will be in Gavi and Alessandria (elimination session)
and the final evening of the prize-giving with the performance
in a public concert of the winning compositions will take place
by the Auditorium Pittaluga of the Conservatory A.
Vivaldi of Alessandria on Saturday 30th October 2010
at 21, within the 10th edition of the International Festival
A. F. Lavagnino Music and Cinema.
art. 3
Composers of any country born after 1st january 1965 can take
part in the competition.
art. 4
The juries verdict is final with no appeal; members are:
Luis Bacalov (composer - teacher of composition of Film
Music at the Academy Chigiana of Siena, Oscar for the soundtrack
of Il postino)
Nicola Piovani (composer - teacher of composition of
Film Music at the Academy Chigiana of Siena, Oscar for the soundtrack
of La vita è bella)
Federico Erminio (composer Conservatory A. Vivaldi
of Alessandria)
Luigi Giachino (composer - teacher at the University
of Turin)
Paolo Paltrinieri (responsible for musical productions
RTI-Mediaset)
Steve Della Casa (film critic - President Film Commission
Piedmont)
Luciano Girardengo (cellist - artistic director of the
contest)
The jury can also indicate, with a special mention, other candidate
plays of particular value.
art. 5
The competitors will have to send their entry (by mail or electronic
mail) with the following material:
curriculum vitae, 2 recent photos, name, surname, place and date
of birth, nationality, address, telephone and entrance fee of
€ 50,00 to credit on the bank account 19305 Cassa di Risparmio
di Alessandria, (IBAN CODE: IT05W0607510404000000019305 - BIC
/ SWIFT: RIALIT21004) of the Alexandria Classica Association,
within Monday 2nd August 2010 to: Concorso Internazionale
di Composizione LAVAGNINO 2010 c/o Associazione Alexandria
Classica, Via U. De Foro 4, 15100 Alessandria (ITALY), or
by e-mail to the address: info@lavagninofestival.it
art. 6
he competitors will have to realize the background music for a
cinema sequence of about 4-5 minutes; there is a choice of two
chosen by the film collection of Museo Nazionale del cinema
which will be sent from the organization on CD-ROM. Competitors
works have to be received according to the following ways:
-on DVD video or CD-ROM (*.mpg, *.mov, *.wmv, *.avi), to: Concorso
Internazionale di Composizione LAVAGNINO 2010. c/o
Associazione Alexandria Classica, Via U. De Foro 4, 15100 Alessandria
(ITALY)
-or by e-mail (*.mov, *.wmv) to the address: info@mediadvdvideo.com
The receiving deadline will be Saturday 9th October 2010.
art. 7
The works, which have not to be bound to the use of all instruments
indicated, must be realized, with real instruments or sampled
ones, for a maximum of string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello),
with a sample of your completed work synchronised with the
chosen cinema sequence, together with the full score undersigned
and the possible staccatos legible for an hypothetical correct
live performance (considering that the score must be pertinent,
executable in short times by the organic suggested and playable
with a small number of proofs).

The winners will receive the following prizes:
Prize
LAVAGNINO 2010 consisting in:
- Plaque
- Diploma
- Education grant of € 1.300,00
- Presentation and public live performance of the winning work
on the programme schedule 2011 of Cinema Massimo of
Turin
- Engagement in the staff of compositors working for RTI-Mediaset
musical productions
2nd prize
consisting in:
plaque, diploma and education grant of € 800,00.
3rd prize
consisting in:
plaque, diploma and education grant of € 600,00.
4th prize
and 5th prize consisting in:
plaque and diploma.
The winners
will be then pointed out to Festivals and Production Agencies.
art. 9
The entry to the contest involves the unreserved acceptance of
these regulations. The prize giving and the performance in a public
concert with the winning compositions will take place in Alessandria,
by the Auditorium M. Pittaluga of the Conservatory
A. Vivaldi, on Saturday 30th October 2010 at 21, at
the presence of the jury.

For any dispute bear witness to the Italian text and the case
would fall within the jurisdiction of Alessandria courts.
